Abstract:

many medical properties including antimicrobial, anticancer, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, etc. have been mentioned for Viola odorata. results have shown the solid cell-killing effects of Viola odorata cycloidal compounds. In addition, Pathogen resistance has necessitated the study of new antimicrobial compounds. This study aimed to evaluate the antimicrobial and anticancer effects of aqueous and alcoholic extracts of violet. Aqueous and alcoholic extracts of Viola were prepared using Soxhlet. After culturing Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, the minimum lethal and inhibitory concentrations were measured. To evaluate the cytotoxicity, an MTT assay was performed on HFF and A549 cells. The obtained data were statistically analyzed. The results of experiments showed the antimicrobial effects of Viola extract. Concentrations of 50 mg / ml and 25 mg / ml, MIC and MBC of Viola extract in Staphylococcus and 50 mg / ml and 100 mg / ml, MIC and MBC of Viola extract in Escherichia coli were obtained. MTT test results showed that the cytotoxicity of ethanolic extract in both the studied cell line was higher than the aqueous extract. Aqueous and alkaline extracts of Viola have an inhibitory effect on gram-negative and positive bacteria and an inhibitory effect on cancer cell proliferation. Due to the lower side effects of herbal and traditional medicines as well as the lower costs of drug production from plant extracts, it seems that the compounds of this plant can be used to produce new drugs.
